CLOTHES

I'd like to show you today another activity desinged to write a description of a person (this way, students can practice the WRITING SKILL). Firts of all, they review clothes vocabulary by means of the video below in the IWB, students sing the song at the time they pay attention to the name and the spelling of the different words:

Finally, I show them some pictures of people dressed in different ways.  They will WRITE A DESCRIPTION of one of them, at their ellection.  Once everybody has done it, they'll read their descriptions and the rest of the class will guess who it is.

I'd like to show you today a very useful and funny tool to improve our students' reading skill.  How does it work?  Very easy ..... they just have to look carefully at all words from the cloud below and then try to give ideas of what the text is about.  This one is about HEALTHY HABITS.

After that, all together at the same time go through the text (this one I've taken out from the book: KID'S BOX 3, Pupil's book, page 54, Cambridge) and compare their initial ideas with the real text.

As we will be talking talking about healthy habits I'd start the lesson remembering the name of some fruits ... isn't it one of the best habits to take at least two pieces of fruit a day?? Clik of the picture below to practice  with this Hot Potatoes activity I've made for this purpose:

DISCUSSION» What are you doing this summer holidays?

Let me show you a new elearning tool which I've just learned but you might already know.  It's called VOXOPOP and I love it.  I think it's very motivating for students, not only because they'll make an effort  to talk but also beacuase they'll make the effort to do it right, taking care of their intonation.

Just clic on the link above and you'll go to the talk group wich I've created in order to record all messages from my students.  They'll talk about their plans for this summer holidays.  I'm sure students will love this new way of communication.


The aim of this activity is that my students practice not only the speaking skill, but also the writing skill.  As it might be difficult for them to just talk (considering it's their first time), they are allowed and encouraged to write down what they plan to say.

LET'S TALK

I'm going to show you an activity that can be done with 6-8 years-old-kids to practice speaking skill.
In the class, you play the song: TEN LITTLE AEROPLANES, and then you start a conversation about this subject. I'll show how I do it:
First I play the song,

Then, I ask them to watch it again and choose their favourite aeroplane, and they can sing at the same time.  They work in groups of four making questions and answering; practising the following structures:

• What's your favourite ....?
• It's ....

Back all together, I ask them about what they'd like to be when they grow up in order to practice again the SPEAKING SKILL.  In order to learn some vocabulary about professions and use it in the speaking, they'll do the PUZZLE I've made for this purpose.  Please click on the link bellow to go to the activity...
